I am so excited to get this piece! Since you stated that you enjoy hearing about when things are going well for people and your artwork being a “reward” of some sort, I feel excited to share a little about how your piece is a reward, or in my opinion, a celebration culmination....
Last year, I was lucky enough to attend one of the last shows that a group called Odesza (one of my favorite groups of all time) was putting on in LA. It was a magical and blessed experience with some good friends of mine at the time, all of which had never seen Odesza before whereas this was my 5th time seeing them. When people ask me about my experience at that show, I ask them to imagine their most favorite New Year’s Eve celebration. I ask them to imagine all of the joy, excitement, wonder, curiosity, letting go of past hurts, forgiveness of said past hurts, anxious excitement for the next year, the celebration of current love and the openness for new love, to imagine the feeling of acceptance of themselves and the feeling that “everything is OK!”....and to then imagine ALL of that with all of your senses on ALL of the rings of Saturn and having THAT sort of party be your internal experience of that show.
Fast forward to this year meeting someone truly and amazingly special after some deep heartache. The way he makes me feel and cares for me, I tell him how he is my “rings of Saturn” to me (he also knows of the story from the Odesza show). One day, I was going down the rabbit hole of looking at art work for my house and found your work. When I saw your piece “Entropy”, it felt like the artistic expression of what I get to share and experience with my new partner. I was concerned about spending that kind of money for a new gift for a new relationship and if he’d like it and all the things, those silly insecure things. But I couldn’t stop thinking about the amazing design and execution of the piece and how it evoked all of these cool and good feelings in me, so why wouldn’t I want to share that with someone, let alone the person I get to love?! One night when Colt and I were having just a simple and peaceful date night, I had this moment of thinking how great it would be to share this piece of art with him! I ordered it that night knowing it would be perfect! He asked me to move in once he buys a new home soon (we are currently on the market for a new home together) and I thought this would be THE PERFECT house warming gift to share with him! I am not very artistically inclined and to find a piece that speaks like I have described above is just so wonderful to me, such a happy coincidence!
